Reindeer and cloudberries

Serves four


500 g renskav, reindeer meat that is thinly sliced and often sold frozen

1 white onion

200 g mushrooms

1 tbsp. butter

4 junipers

1 tbsp. mesost, Norwegian brown goat cheese

300 ml heavy cream

Salt and black pepper


For serving

8 lompe, Norwegian thin potatobread or mashed potatoes.


In a very hot pan fry the frozen meat directly in butter. Peel and slice the onion. Cut the mushrooms in half. Add onions and mushrooms to the meat. Crush the junipers and add these as well. Fry everything until the meat is cooked and then add mesost and cream. Cook until the cream starts to thicken. Salt to taste.

Serve with cloudberries, lompe or mashed potatoes.


Sweet and sour cloudberries


200 g cloudberries, frozen or fresh

2 tbsp. apple cider vinegar

2 tbsp. sugar or honey


Combine all ingredients in a bowl. Gently stir the berries until the sugar has dissolved.

Store in a jar in the fridge.
